Tiny Town, USA

We neglected to include one of the photos from our trip to eastern Pennsylvania last weekend in our previous post, but take a look at this beautiful car and the amazing vintage bungalow it was parked in front of.

Okay, okay—we didn’t shoot that photo, and it’s not from our trip at all. It’s the work of Michael Paul Smith, a multitalented artist who works in miniatures and is a darned good photographer, to boot.

Smith has created an imaginary small town, Elgin Park, and his photographs have us wishing we could move there.

There’s no real need to say much more. Click on the above picture to see more photographs of Smith’s astonishing miniature recreations of days gone by. He’s got hundreds of images posted, and if you’re like us, you’re going to need to set some time aside to devote to browsing the entire collection.

And while you’re at it, check out this profile of Smith in The New York Times.

What’s more, Smith has published a book devoted to his photographs of this imaginary town, Elgin Park: An Ideal American Town.
