Remembering a radio/TV veteran

One of the most venerable of American broadcasters, Art Linkletter, died today. He was 97.

If you’re of a certain age, you remember Linkletter well (if you’re younger, you might imagine an emcee who worked in a style not unlike Bob Barker’s). Linkletter was an amiable sort who on his radio and television programs found humor in the foibles and follies of everyday people.

We’re sharing with Cladrite Radio listeners a episode of his program, People Are Funny, from February 7, 1950. The program debuted on radio in 1942 and aired on television from 1954 to 1961 (his other program, Art Linkletter’s House Party, was even a bigger hit and ran even longer — it first appeared on radio in 1944 and aired on CBS-TV from 1952 to 1969).
