I always listened via Akaxa on Live 365, but although Akexa says I am connected, it’s just silence. And ideas would be helpful. Great channel ( when I can get it lol (
Hello John. Thanks for being a long-time listener. Sadly, the licensing agencies in the UK raised their rates precipitously, a cost which our streaming provider, Live365, has passed on to us. It’s an additional cost we cannot currently cover so unless the number of people who support us on Patreon.com grows significantly, allowing us to pay that fee, UK listeners will be blocked by Live365. We don’t know of a work around for UK listeners (using a VPN, perhaps? We’d be interested in hearing if that works).
The irony of operating a streaming radio station is that unlike terrestrial stations, the more listeners we get, the more it costs us. The licensing agencies (in the US and the UK and probably elsewhere) charge small mom-and-pop streaming stations more than they do the broadcast stations. Because our listening audience continues to grow (without our number of supporters increasing proportionately), we are stretched very thin and cannot add this additional cost. We try not to bring up our need for financial support very often, but it is a real one and sadly, today’s listeners are used to enjoying things for free; convincing them to chip in to support their favorite streaming station is a challenge.
